The Bayview Imani Breast Cancer Support Group are Women Working Together for a Healthier Community. The Support group was founded in October 2001 due toa greater need for more specific attention to be placed on breast cancer survivors in the communities of Bayview Hunters Point Potrero Hill Visitacion Valley and Sunnydale. The primary focus is to provide breast health education and support groups for AfricanAmerican women as well as addressing other health disparities such as diabetes hypertension and nutrition. Hence the development of an organization that would not only embody but address fears and concerns surrounding breast cancer most especially for low income underserved AfricanAmerican Women in the community.
