Welcome to the SOUTH CAROLINA SOCIETY OF NUCLEAR MEDICINE WHAT IS A NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST Nuclear medicine technologists use a scanner to create images of various areas of a patients body. They prepare radioactive isotopes and administer them to patients undergoing the scans. The radioactive isotopes cause abnormal areas of the body to appear different from normal areas in the images.
