We are a book give-away program using former teacher and librarian volunteers who select and distribute free books to children, caregivers and teachers, particularly those in low-income, disadvantaged regions in Santa Cruz and Sacramento counties. We also provide books to schools in disaster areas, to a homeless education program in San Francisco, to schools in South America, and an orphanage in Kenya. High interest, high quality books are selected from thrift stores and from donations. The books include novels, easy readers, baby books, and informational texts,hardcover and paperback. Many of these books would be pulped if we didn’t purchase them. Instead of discarding them, we help them find homes with deserving children and teachers.
