A Message to the Field of Rehabilitation Counseling Dear Rehabilitation Community Since 1958 the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association NRCA has stood as the oldest and most respected professional body representing rehabilitation counselors. As highlighted by Kirk LaForge 1995 and reaffirmed by our current board NRCAs founding philosophy still holds true rehabilitation counseling is not just a skill set within general counseling or guidance but a distinct profession that spans across various employment settings.
