BETA International: Home Page

We improve healthcare technology in resource-limited countries by improvisational hands-on training of biomedical engineers through locally-based academic programs that are self-sustaining and adaptive to new medical technologies. We facilitate continuing education of hospital technicians to instruct staff on new medical device care and use, and to maintain, repair and calibrate equipment. Volunteers and partnering academic institutions are the critical human resources in achieving our mission, and equipment donations are carefully screened to avoid turning developing countries into technology dumping grounds -- a pervasive problem.

Biomedical Engineering Technology Aid International Resourceful GlobalHealth Technology Nonprofit Volunteer Organization 2013 Home Publications Programs Volunteer Donations Contact Us BETA Intl provides volunteer opportunities for engineering students and retirees to mentor students engineers and technicians in developing countries. Our particular focus is in Biomedical Technology with the aim of improving and maintaining health care technology in resourcelimited countries. While BMET background is desirable for volunteers it is not essential. We work with technical institutions such as Arusha Technical College in Northern Tanzania to develop practical troubleshooting and repair skills in settings that have been traditionally strong on theory and weak on practical experience.
