Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders

We are a scientific research institute focusing on the use of brain imaging as a tool for improving treatments for and early diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson disease, Alzheimer disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders. Our ultimate goal is to end the suffering of individuals and their children through increased understanding and better treatments. We believe that one day it will be possible to stop, reverse and prevent the onset of neurodegenerative disorders. All our efforts are designed to bring that day closer.

Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders

Overview

The Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders (IND) is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit research institute established in 2001. Founded by Drs. Kenneth Marek and John Seibyl, the organization aims to advance the development of diagnostic tools and treatments for patients with neurodegenerative conditions through clinical research.

Mission and Activities

IND's mission is to enhance clinical neuroscience with state-of-the-art imaging technology, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurologic conditions. Their research programs include evaluating new treatments, developing imaging studies for diagnosing and monitoring disease progression, detecting neurologic diseases before symptoms appear, and promoting healthy aging.

Team and Partnerships

The institute is staffed by expert researchers including neurologists, nurses, study coordinators, neuropsychologists, and imaging technologists. IND collaborates with organizations worldwide to accelerate progress in developing diagnostic tools and treatments for neurodegenerative conditions, partnering with entities like The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Funding and Participation

As a nonprofit, IND relies on support from foundations, grants, and individual contributions to fund its research and services. Patients are not charged for clinical evaluations or educational programs provided by the institute. IND offers numerous opportunities for individuals to participate in various research studies, attracting participants from across the U.S. and Canada.
