Embodiment Project is a San Francisco-based street dance theater company that intersects hip hop, do Embodiment Project is a Performing Arts Organization that honors and expresses Black social dances/street dance, and other dance traditions including modern dance and use choreo poetry, documentary theater, live song, and video art. We center the narratives and voices of BIPOC and survivors of sexual violence, uplifting the ancestral power of Black social dance as an act of resistance, collective healing, and social transformation. We envision a world where dance is integrated as a critical dimension of social and cultural revolution. We envision a concert dance landscape in the United States that uplifts underheard and silenced stories, honors the ancestral lineages of its participants, and advances our capacity for collective liberation.
