Christian Medical & Dental Associations

The Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) is a nonprofit organization providing resources, networking opportunities, education, and a public voice for Christian healthcare professionals and students. It is composed of two constituent bodies: the Christian Medical Association (CMA) and the Christian Dental Association (CDA).

History and Formation

Founded in 1931, CMDA has evolved into a significant organization with a substantial membership of Christian healthcare professionals. Its mission is to "change hearts in healthcare," aligning with Christian values and principles.

Activities and Programs

CMDA undertakes various activities aimed at fulfilling its mission:

• Missionary Work: CMDA conducts overseas medical and dental evangelism projects through its mission arm. This involves sponsoring projects that combine healthcare delivery with Christian ministry.
• Education and Networking: It provides a network for fellowship and professional growth among members. This includes hosting educational seminars, conducting academic exchanges, and supporting continuing education for missionary healthcare professionals.
• Student Ministries: CMDA sponsors student ministries in medical, dental, and other allied health training schools to support Christian students in these fields.
• Community Service: Members participate in community service events, such as serving at health centers and engaging in activities like Operation Christmas Child.
• Marriage and Family Conferences: It hosts conferences fostering family values and spiritual growth.

Public Policy and Advocacy

CMDA's advocacy arm engages in public policy issues relevant to healthcare, including conscience rights, human trafficking, abortion, and stem cell research. It maintains a presence in Washington to provide a national voice on these matters and advance pro-life perspectives through media and congressional testimony.

Membership and Governance

CMDA's membership includes over 13,000 healthcare professionals as of recent updates. The organization is governed by a Board of Trustees and a House of Delegates, which advises on policy and action.

Vision and Mission

CMDA's overarching goal is to serve as the "hands of Jesus" to needy people, fulfilling both His Great Commandment and His Great Commission through healthcare ministry.
