Supporting an essential mission The William Mary Foundations defining and essential mission is to support the universitys people and programs. By seeking private support and then diligently managing those funds the WM Foundation advances and furthers the work of William Marys students and faculty providing vital resources for scholarships professorships research and program funding. Give to the William Mary Foundation The WM Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code including receiving managing investing and administering private gifts and property and making expenditures to or for the benefit of the university. Since its formation in 1939 the role of philanthropy has become increasingly central to William Marys progress as an institution a role that has been further heightened by economic challenges within the commonwealth United States and world.
