FRIENDS OF THE BAY INC
Founded in 1987, Friends of the Bay's mission is to preserve, protect and restore the ecological productivity and integrity of the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Estuary and the surrounding watershed. Friends of the Bay’s Mission is to preserve, protect and restore the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Estuary and the surrounding watershed.
In furtherance of that mission, Friends of the Bay completed a State of the Watershed Report, and subsequently completed at Watershed Action Plan. We also conduct weekly water quality monitoring at 19 sites throughout the estuary from April through October, and perform streams and outfalls testing at more than 10 sites.

We need your help to put the oyster back in Oyster Bay. Click here to learn more about the Horseshoe Crab Protection Act Friends of the Bay and the Town of Oyster Bay install a Cleanup Station at Centre Island Beach Friends of the Bay and the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department installed a selfservice cleanup station at Centre Island Beach in Bayville the first of its kind in the town. The installation coincided with International Coastal Cleanup Day on September 21 where it was used for the first time during a beach cleanup we cohosted with The Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center. This cleanup station will remain yearround on the Long Island Sound side of Centre Island Beach.
