Promote Advance Educate Our objectives are to promote and improve social scientific research education and scholarship in the field of the sociology of health and illness. Our Funding Schemes Mildred Blaxter postdoctoral fellowships Provides support for individuals who have recently completed a PhD to enable them to develop a programme of work related to their thesis Research grant development awards Research grant development awards are pumppriming funds for the development of highquality innovative research grants in sociology of health and illness. Symposium or workshop support grants This scheme supports the development of the sociology of health illness by funding conferences workshops which address important issues in the field Postgraduate international conference travel awards This scheme supports PG students and earlycareer researchers to present or copresent a paper at an appropriate international conference outside the UK.
