Welcome The Maestro and Mahler On Saturday 9th November 2024 the Gustav Mahler Society in the North and Midlands hosted a special study day at the Birmingham and Midland Institute dedicated to the memory of Derek Jones. The event led by Dr. Kevin Carey explored the remarkable lives and musical legacies of Gustav Mahler and Leonard Bernsteintwo of the 20th centurys most influential composers and conductors. Through film readings talks and discussion attendees delved into the connections between these iconic figures.
