It aims to create opportunities for and encourage active volunteering as a means of capacity building and learning for asylum seekers as a contribution to Welsh society to relieve poverty amongst African people in Wales to increase education and training opportunities for refugees and their dependents to raise awareness of and remove myths about refugees and asylum seekers to increase community cohesion and to encourage entrepreneurship. During its two decades of existence SoPPro has acquired expertise in all projects involving the shared history of the British Isles and especially the United Kingdom and Africa especially with the Democratic Republic of Congo or rather the former Kongo Kingdom now divided into three countries resulting from colonisation Angola where its former capital Mbanza Kongo or San Salvador is located also known as the Portuguese Kongo the Democratic Republic of Congo or the former Belgian C.
