Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club Clwb Achub Bywyd or Mr Llanilltud Fawr Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Clubis situated in the heart of the Heritage Coast in the Vale of Glamorgan on one of the best surf beaches in South Wales. The clubwas established in 1963 following concerns about the number of coastal incidents that were occurring including drowning fatalities. The conditions in the Bristol Channel can be treacherous with strong prevailing south westerly winds and the second largest tidal drop in the world vigilance is important. By now the club has a high standing in the local communitygrowing from a small number of young volunteers housed in an RAF packing case to a club with over 200 members.
