The Corfu Arts Foundation seeks to regenerate the tradition and appreciation of the opera in particular and the performing and visual arts in general. ADVANCING THE ARTS IN CORFU FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR OPERA, DRAMA, DANCE AND MUSIC. RAISING FUNDS TO PROVIDE FREE PERFORMANCES FOR THE PEOPLE OF CORFU AND TO BRING THE ARTS TO THE CHILDREN AND OUTLYING VILLAGES.

Welcome To The Foundation The Foundation is a Charity registered in England by the Charities Commission. Its objectives are to promote the performing and visual arts in Corfu and to fund related and worthy causes. Background During Venetian rule the people of Corfu developed a fervent appreciation for Italian opera which was the source of the islands extraordinary musical development. In 1720 it was decided to convert a club for the Venetian noble class into a theatrenamed Nobile Teatro di San Giacomo after the neighbouring Catholic Cathedral.
