Heart Safe Communities UK – A new national Charity committed to helping people build ‘Heart Safe Communities’

Heart Safe Communities UK operates within the United Kingdom to support communities in improving survival for those who experience a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital setting. This is achieved raising awareness of the causes and treatment of cardiac arrest, by providing resuscitation training and raising funds to install public access defibrillators in the community.

Only around 3 of cardiac arrests happen within the recommended retrieval distance of 100 metre or 23 minute brisk walk of a defibrillator. Less than 10 of those experiencing cardiac arrest get help from a defibrillator AED before emergency personnel arrive.
