CAPE - Climate Adapted Pathways for Education

Climate Adapted Pathways for Education (CAPE) is a UK-based charity dedicated to enhancing education by integrating high-quality, evidence-informed climate change education into schools. The organization works across the UK, bringing together researchers, educators, schools, and various partners to achieve its mission.

Mission and Objectives

CAPE's primary objective is to empower teachers and school leaders with the expertise needed to effectively integrate climate change education into their curricula. The charity emphasizes connecting a community of educators focused on understanding and implementing high-quality, evidence-based climate change education. It does not endorse or sell commercially available resources, instead focusing on collaborative efforts to enhance climate education for children and young people.

Partnerships

CAPE collaborates with a diverse range of organizations and academic institutions, including but not limited to Leeds Trinity University, Teacher Development Trust, Learning through Landscapes, Association for Science Education, British Science Association, Earthwatch Europe, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Chartered College of Teaching, and the Natural History Museum. Additionally, it partners with several multi-academy trusts and educational institutions, such as An Daras Trust, Caister Primary Federation, HEART Academies Trust, Northern Star Academies Trust, REAch2 Academy Trust, and The St Bart's Multi-Academy Trust.

Operational Model

CAPE operates largely through volunteer efforts and funding, ensuring transparency in its financial management. It supports educators by providing them with the necessary tools and expertise to lead effective climate change education initiatives. Due to the high volume of support requests, CAPE encourages interested parties to collaborate through its community network.
