Overview

Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc., commonly known as EGADZ, is a non-profit community-based organization located in Saskatoon. Founded on April 2, 1990, EGADZ focuses on providing youth-directed programs and services to children, youth, and their families, aiming to improve their quality of life by helping them make healthy choices.

History

The development of EGADZ began in 1988 through discussions led by the City of Saskatoon Leisure Services Department. These discussions identified the need for collaboration among various agencies to address the needs of "hard to serve" youth, focusing on areas such as education, health, food, shelter, recreation, and employment.

Mission and Vision

Mission: EGADZ operates with the mission of being visionary leaders and advocates for ensuring that children and youth have a voice in determining the programs and services that best meet their needs. They emphasize unconditional acceptance, open communication, and collaborative work with clients, staff, and the community.

  • Fusion 22: A multipurpose supported living program for families transitioning towards interdependence.
  • Ground Zero: An emergency transitional housing program created by youth for youth, offering temporary housing while seeking secure long-term housing.
  • Baby Steps Program: A component of family unification efforts that supports mothers in staying with their children.
  • Parent Support: Guidance for young parents.
  • My Homes: A voluntary program supporting young people in creating lifestyle changes or achieving independence.
  • Sweet Dreams Early Learning Centre and Program: Focuses on learning opportunities and supports mothers in various challenging situations.
  • Youth Driven Therapeutic Housing: Offers mental health and addiction support in a youth-centered environment.

Volunteering and Donations
