Overview
Victim Services of Kingston and Frontenac is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to victims and survivors of crime, tragic circumstances, and disasters in Kingston and Frontenac County, Ontario. This organization operates 24/7 to ensure immediate, confidential assistance to those in need. It works in close partnership with local emergency services, including police, fire, rescue, paramedics, and community partners.
Mission
The mission of Victim Services of Kingston and Frontenac is to offer tailored crisis assistance, emotional support, practical help, and advocacy to individuals affected by various forms of trauma. This includes support for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, physical assault, stalking, harassment, and other crimes such as homicide and human trafficking.
Services
- Crisis Intervention Services: These services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by trained staff and volunteers who are on call to assist emergency service personnel.
- Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP): This program provides financial assistance to qualified individuals who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, and other related crimes for emergency needs such as counseling and home safety measures.
- Anti-Human Trafficking Services: Immediate safety and support are offered to victims of human trafficking, along with community outreach and educational presentations.
- Safety Planning: This service helps victims develop strategies to ensure their safety upon request.
- Support for Children and Youth: Services are available for children who have experienced or witnessed abuse, including counseling and prevention programs.
