Etobicoke Philharmonic Society
The Etobicoke Philharmonic Society is a Canadian nonprofit organization (Business Registration Number 118902816RR0001) founded in 1960 to promote community engagement in classical music through the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra (EPO). Established by Cecil Rose, an Etobicoke businessman and amateur clarinetist, the society was chartered following its inaugural concert on February 22, 1961[1][2].

Cecil Rose conceptualized a community orchestra to allow amateur musicians to perform classical repertoire for local audiences. Initial rehearsals were held at a neighborhood YMCA, with the orchestra quickly growing to 90 members through grassroots outreach[1][2].
