History
The Jesuit Centre for Social Faith and Justice was active for nearly two decades before its transformation and legacy were carried forward. During its operational years, it earned recognition for its work on Central American issues, support for refugees, and efforts to strengthen social movements within Canada.
Legacy
After the Jesuit Centre ceased its operations, its legacy was continued by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), which was established in 1997. The CSJ is an advocacy organization committed to narrowing the gap in income, wealth, and power, enhancing peace and human rights, and promoting economic and social justice. The Centre works in partnership with social movements, community and faith groups, unions, and universities.
Transition to Jesuit Forum for Social Faith and Justice
The organization is now known as the Jesuit Forum for Social Faith and Justice. Grounded in Ignatian spirituality, the Forum emphasizes dialogue and community engagement to inspire positive change and promote a just and sustainable world.
