### History  
The church traces its roots to **Mount Calvary Lutheran Church**, established in 1955 as a daughter congregation of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church[2]. Initially serving English-speaking worshippers, it held its first services in 1957 and underwent significant milestones, including debt-free status by 1985 and the addition of a donated pipe organ in 1994[2]. Concurrently, the **German-speaking Martin Luther Church** was founded in 1965 by German immigrants[1].  

In 2017, both congregations independently voted to merge, forming the **German Evangelical Martin Luther Church of Ottawa Inc.**, finalized in 2018 under the Eastern Synod of the ELCIC[3]. The merger preserved dual-language worship and collaborative governance, with a shared council overseeing ministries[3][5].

The church provides weekly German and English worship services, Sunday School, and community programs, including a senior initiative and daily kindergarten[5].
