Overview

History

The church originated as a small, two-man effort in 1975. Founders Rob Irvine and John Fairchild, both in their early twenties, began by holding Bible studies in their apartment, focusing on the activities of the early Christian church as described in Acts chapters 1-4. This included radical devotion to Christ, enthusiastic evangelism, and fervent care for one another. As the church grew, it moved to the University of Guelph campus, where it initially targeted students. Over time, the church's demographic shifted as students graduated and started families. By the mid-1980s, it was no longer primarily a student church, and its outreach efforts expanded to include workplaces, extended families, neighbors, and friends.
