Brampton and Regional Islamic Centre (BARIC)

Brampton and Regional Islamic Centre (BARIC) is a Canadian nonprofit organisation dedicated to serving the Muslim community in Brampton and surrounding areas. Founded with humble beginnings, BARIC evolved from informal prayer gatherings in a residential setting during Ramadan in 2012 to a formal organization.

Mission and Vision

The centre is committed to promoting Islamic teachings, faith, and culture. Its mission includes providing religious, developmental, and community services to cater to the spiritual and social needs of the Muslim population. BARIC aims to establish an ideal Islamic centre that offers a comprehensive range of facilities, including a prayer hall, gymnasium, madrasa for evening and weekend education, library, and a dedicated area for elderly services.

Programs and Services

BARIC offers ongoing programs to advance Islamic principles and practices, focusing on the needs of adolescents and youth within the community. In addition to its current services, the organization plans to provide counseling, marriage support, and assistance for newcomers based on community requirements. The centre is designed to play a pivotal role in fostering peace and harmony in the region, contributing to a safer community.

Background

The idea for BARIC began when a group of brothers in East Brampton organized Taraweeh prayers in a living room. This initiative quickly grew as more community members became involved, leading to the search for a dedicated facility to serve the community. Today, BARIC represents a unified effort to empower the Islamic community by promoting unity, faith, and community spirit.
