Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto

He hired Father Patrick Bench to oversee the coordination of admissions to existing charitable institutions and the allocation of welfare activities. Their mission was to identify social issues affecting the poor and marginalized and to encourage unified charitable work under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Toronto.

This initiative formalized Catholic charitable activities in the region, creating an umbrella organization that initially consolidated 26 individual Catholic charitable organizations. The effort was rooted in the longstanding tradition of Catholic charity in the city, which has been integral to Toronto's social and healthcare infrastructure since the 19th century.

Throughout its history, Catholic Charities has worked tirelessly to provide social services regardless of recipients' religious affiliations, reflecting the spirit of broad humanitarian commitment.
