North-Eastern Montessori School is located in St Helena in Melbourne’s leafy north-eastern suburbs. Our school provides a vibrant and nurturing environment where learning happens naturally, and our students are empowered to excel. The School is firmly rooted in the timeless and globally recognised methods of Montessori philosophy, whilst continuing to integrate the best of modern education, where appropriate. We are passionate about empowering children to enhance their individual potential in all aspects of their development. We celebrate their uniqueness and their individual learning styles, encourage them to develop a love of learning and respect for one another and the world. The philosophy is also shared in the lives of teachers and children's families. This creates a real sense of community that facilitates an all encompassing environment for growth and sharing. ACARA have advised that the Montessori National Curriculum aligns with the Melbourne Declaration on Education Goals for Young Australians, meets the particular principles and guidelines in relation to the Shape of the Aust Curriculum V3 Dec 2010. The School continues to run an Early Learning Centre, 34 year old preschool (where Cycle 1 of the Montessori Curriculum comes into play), then school age levels from 511 year old children. Like all Montessori Schools, our classes span across 3 Planes of Development known as 'Cycles'. They continue to provide flexibility in development of social and academic skills, with Cycle 1 spanning 35 yearolds, Cycle 2, 68 yearolds and Cycle 3 911 yearolds. We continue to follow the philosophy where at the start of each cycle, the younger child is nurtured but as they get older, they will reinforce their learning by helping younger children complete their tasks, thus developing leadership and mentoring skills.

As of 2021, the school changed its name from Plenty Valley International Montessori School to North-Eastern Montessori School, reflecting its position in providing Montessori education in the region.

Programs and Ages

  • Toddler Community: For children aged 18 months to 3 years.
  • Cycle 1: Includes kindergarten to foundation for 3 and 4-year-olds.
  • Cycle 2: Covers years 1 to 3.
  • Cycle 3: Includes years 4 to 6. The school is set to expand with a middle school opening in 2026 for Year 7.

Community Impact
