Writers Benevolent Fund The Writers Benevolent Fund provides assistance to authors finding themselves in financial difficulties. What is there that is so pathetic about an old Australian road lying in all the mystery of neglect beside a new one on which the traffic hurries thoughtlessly. Ah what richness is in that very neglect. The shadows are different there from The Pea Pickers 1942 by Eve Langley who died largely forgotten and in reduced circumstances in 1974.
