The Trustee for P F Beinke Charitable Trust - Royal Adelaide Hospital (The Chapel Fund)

The Trustee for P F Beinke Charitable Trust - Royal Adelaide Hospital (The Chapel Fund) is an Australian nonprofit organisation established to oversee the charitable trust created under the will of Peter Francis Beinke. This trust is one of three separate charitable trusts funded by the residual balance of Beinke's estate, designated specifically for the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Purpose and Activities

The primary purpose of the Trust is to provide services for education, training, and associated expenses for chaplains serving at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The funding supports the chaplaincy staff in their role within the hospital, facilitating spiritual care and pastoral support to patients, families, and hospital staff.

Governance and Trust Structure

In July 2020, the Health Services Charitable Gifts Board was appointed as trustee of the trust under a Deed of Trustee Retirement Appointment & Indemnity. The Trust operates as a discretionary investment trust and is distinct from the Board’s other charitable asset management activities, with dedicated administration of its revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities per the founding documents.

Related Beinke Charitable Trusts

The residual estate of Peter Francis Beinke was divided equally into three charitable trusts, each serving a different South Australian hospital:

  • P F Beinke Charitable Trust - Royal Adelaide Hospital (The Chapel Fund)
  • P F Beinke Charitable Trust - Flinders Medical Centre (Pastoral Care Account)
  • P F Beinke Charitable Trust - Daw Park Repatriation Hospital (Pastoral Care Chapel Account)

Each trust shares the common goal of supporting chaplaincy education and care services within their respective institutions, managed separately to align with the specific needs of each hospital.

Financial and Reporting

The Trust is registered and compliant with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and maintains financial accountability through periodic reporting. Financial statements and annual reports are available and outline the Trust's financial results and adherence to its charitable objectives.

This trust plays a vital role in ensuring that pastoral care remains a supported and integral part of healthcare delivery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, benefiting from the legacy of Peter Francis Beinke and the management expertise of the Health Services Charitable Gifts Board[1][2][3][5].
