1. We took into care 188 cats and 132 dogs during this reporting period. These companion animals were either abandoned, lost, no longer wanted, unable to be cared for, or in some cases were abused by their families. We provided a safe environment for these animals in foster homes, provided veterinary care as needed, until we could find a suitable permanent home for them. 2. During local flood events which occurred in our region, we were responsible for taking in several animals whose families were displaced and unable to find suitable accommodation with their animals. 3. We made improvements to our animal shelter premises to ensure a safe, secure and enhanced environment for our animals and volunteers. 4. We continued to update our retail premises (Op Shop) which saw an increase in the income generated to support our operations. 5. We continued and broadened our program to assist families suffering financial hardship to desex their animals.

NRAS operates within a 100 km radius of Ballina, NSW. The organisation relies heavily on donations to fund its operations, and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible. Goods donated to the Op Shop also contribute significantly to supporting the animals.
