The activities governed by Balmoral Beach Club Events include the Balmoral Nippers, Balmoral Swim for Cancer and the Erik Mather 2/4/6 Swim for Melanoma. The Balmoral Nippers season 2021/22 was transformed to deal with the safety restrictions necessitated by the COVID 19 Pandemic. Aside from the COVID marshals enforcing social distancing and the enhanced record keeping requirements, Mosman Council approval hinged on major changes to the format this year. A maximum of 500 persons on Edwards Beach at any one time for Nippers, led to a decision of no new participant families, splitting Nippers into two groups with no beach time overlap between groups, removal of the Championships activities and a decision not to charge families for the 2021/22 season (particularly in light of uncertainty around how much of a season would be staged). The decision not to charge was made possible by the accumulation of surpluses in prior years. The challenges of the year did not prevent the introduction of a new Sharkies category, which provides a modified program for children with special needs. A total of 20 children made up the inaugural Sharkies group. The Bronzies category again saw strong participation.
