Sydney Community Services (SCS) is a not-for-profit community services organisation based in the Lane Cove and Hunters Hill local government areas in Sydney, New South Wales.
Formation and History
Sydney Community Services was established on 1 July 2017 following the amalgamation of Lane Cove North Side Community Services (LCNSCS) and Hunters Hill Ryde Community Services (HHRCS). Both predecessor organisations had long histories, with LCNSCS dating back to 1961 and HHRCS to 1966, providing community services for over five decades. In January 2020, The Meeting House in Lane Cove North also merged with SCS, further expanding its services.
Services and Programs
Sydney Community Services provides a wide range of programs and services focused on the most vulnerable members of its community, including the elderly, those who are socially and financially disadvantaged, and individuals with disabilities. Key services include:
- Aged Care Services: Home-delivered meals, home modifications and maintenance, shopping assistance, and home nursing.
- Disability Services: Community engagement, in-home support, and arts and wellness activities.
- Support for Children and Families: Specialised supported playgroup programs for children aged 0-4.
- Community Activities and Events: Gentle exercise, strength and stability programs, yoga, book clubs, social games, and outings.
- Financial Counseling and Hardship Assistance: Support for individuals experiencing temporary financial difficulties.

SCS operates through a combination of public and private funding sources, along with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers. The organisation has staff and a significant number of volunteers contributing to its services.
