Nepean Foundation made a grant of $25,000.00 to the restoring microvascular circulation with diagnostic ultrasound and contrast agent: the REDUCE Trial. REDUCE trial is a prospective, multicentre, doubleblind (patient and interventional cardiologist), shamcontrolled RCT with 3 arms to compare the efficacy of STL in patients with STEMI in 4 Australian tertiary hospitals. Our primary outcome is infarct size as measured by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) at Day 4±2. We will determine the immediate effects of STL on symptoms, microvascular resistance, and myocardial insults, as well as perform withintrial and longterm economic modelling, which will provide critical evidence for Health Technology Agencies to determine costeffectiveness and technology reimbursement. STL is readily applicable as it has been used as a diagnostic test for more than 15 years. Our pilot data showed that STL is feasible and will take only 3±1 min prePCI without causing significant delay in doortoballoon time (30~40 min), with promising blood and CMR pilot data.
