Volunteer activities The past year has seen some great effort from the volunteer coordination people. Patsy restarted the volunteer training program which is great. She has also given more definition to the volunteer roles. Two key roles are the site coordinator position that is responsible for making sure all the necessary planning, logistics and safety things occur. The second is a mentor role within the volunteer group to help individuals with particular matters. Patsy and Mell have also implemented the NPWS VIP database system. Friends help there by still providing an activity registration process on our website. There are many diverse volunteer activities within the royal parks. The Royal Bushies continue to do great work in bush regeneration. The targeted weeding efforts by the Friends volunteers under the leadership of Dave have done great work at Red Jacks and Middle Rill. Unfortunately at Middle Rill, the road access problem at Garie has put that work in jeopardy. On the plus side, this has meant more days at RedJacks. A huge amount of Senna has been cleared. So much that a hidden sandstone building was uncovered. Other volunteer activities, such as plant tours and litter collections, have gone ahead when weather and conditions have allowed.

Socialise with us Fascinating Fungi 2025 As we all know springtime is the peak season for wildflowers across the Royal but another little known feast for our eyes occurs all across the park in Autumn if you know where to look. The best locations are to be found in the rainforest where deep damp leaf litter occurs and an incredible diversity and abundance of fabulous fungi explode from the ground. We have captured some photos of this phenomenon to spark your interest so on your next bushwalk keep your eyes to the ground and you will see something of this amazing display.
