Providing advice to government about the vocational education and training requirements of industry There are eight Training Councils in Western Australia recognised in WAs Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 and established to provide advice to government about the vocational education and training requirements of industry. Each Training Council is an industry training advisory body which informs the Department of Training and Workforce Development DTWD and the State Training Board STB on the training needs and skilling priorities of industry in Western Australia. Training Council advice guides the States workforce development and training strategies. Role and Function of the Training Council We are actively involved in facilitating and participating in industry workshops and seminars producing industry reports and working on trainingbased projects with our stakeholders as well as providing pertinent training information through a variety of avenues such as newsletters and bulletins.
