Oceans IQ is an educational portal with a long established web site and significant free resources available to school and university students, teachers, lecturers and the general public. We actively promote and educate in the fields of marine science, research and sustainable management. Oceans IQ s purposes of research, science education and sustainable management goals were achieved with further educational web material including additional ScienceTalks on the site.web (interviews with researchers and scientists on current research projects and why the interviewees took up research as a career). Other education material includes The Nature of Science Youtube clips (on website). 2. Further development work on the COVID delayed Tasmania Down Under documentary (for the international market) on the diverse, unique and remarkable Tasmanian marine habitats. This work includes engaging with Australian broadcaster ABC and developing a coproduction agreement with French coproduction partner Paprika Films. A suite of displays, written science, natural history and conservation management projects for schools and the Tasmanian public are now in development. A website for the multiple projects has been developed for the Tasmania Down Under project and will go public when the documentary is funded and production gets underway. 3. A new project titled the Ocean Literacy Portal is currently under development and seeking funding. There is a need to provide Australian focused marine science resources for all age groups. The goal of Ocean s IQ is to fill this need by a major and ongoing program providing educators a portal of free and high quality resources on the Australian marine environment. This will increase ocean literacy and directly support the UN s Ocean Decade by engaging individuals and communities interested in learning more about marine science. Many current marine science resources are also unsystematic and outdated. There is no centralised portal. Ocean literacy resources with a southern shores/ temperate marine environment focus are akmost non existent. Teachers are, in some cases, having to use resources developed for the more well funded tropical reefs. OIQ will address these issues and develop a framework for a national Ocean Literacy Portal with an initial focus on Victoria.
