We support communities to maintain their heritage language and culture by providing guidance and support on setting up and running a community language school, applying for funding from the NSW Department of Education's Community Languages Schools Program, planning for student learning, and using teaching and learning strategies to engage and interest students of all ages. We offer our members free professional learning workshops as well as oneonone support.

Our mission is to support the teaching promotion and maintenance of community languages and cultures in New South Wales. Since we were established in 1975 as the Illawarra Ethnic Parents and Teachers Association we have been supporting and building the capacity of multicultural communities to preserve their heritage languages and cultures. With 52 member organizations teaching 28 community languages we are dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment that enhances educational practices and supports the vibrant preservation of diverse languages and cultures.
