We aim to relieve the disadvantage and distress experienced by people in Australia with Down syndrome, through the provision of systemic advocacy, resources and information to people with Down syndrome and their families, based on a human rights approach and guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities ratified by Australia. DSA performs any duties and functions and do such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the object in the above statement, including by undertaking the following activities: (i) advocating for people with Down syndrome to have access to the same services, supports and community activities as other Australians; (ii) providing access to consistent, uptodate evidencedbased information on Down syndrome; (iii) representing the experiences and views of people with Down syndrome and their families to the Federal government; (iv) promoting the inclusion of people with Down syndrome in the social, economic and cultural life of the community; (v) supporting relevant research and knowledge translation initiatives relating to Down syndrome; and (vi) any other activities that are necessary or expedient to further the objects of the Company.
