Brain Injury Matters Incorporated is a nonprofit self-advocacy organization dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). The organization is unique as it is entirely led by people with ABI, making it a powerful voice for those living with such conditions in Victoria, Australia.

History

Established over 20 years ago, Brain Injury Matters was originally known as Bear In Mind. It was incorporated on October 25, 1999, becoming the first incorporated ABI self-advocacy organization in Australia to be led by people with ABI.

Mission and Vision

The organization's mission is to support and empower people with ABI to advocate for themselves and enhance the lives of others living with the same condition. Their vision is to create a society where people with ABI can lead dignified and meaningful lives within an inclusive community.
