National Shelter is the Australian peak body for housing, working to improve housing access, affordability, appropriateness, safety and security for people on low incomes. We promoted and advocated for social and affordable housing to be increased to sustainable levels for the relief of poverty. We engaged with other charities, peak bodies, industry associations, governments and the public to promote and advocate for more affordable and social housing. We conducted and supported research and policy development to further our evidence base for the need for more social and affordable housing and limiting homelessness to relieve poverty and improve understanding about the need for more social and affordable housing.
