We continue our ground breaking work on the EWP safety application to reduce death and injury within the building and construction sectors. Detailed design work has commenced on the Bob Marshman Building, a climate responsive construction, designed to demonstrate how such buildings can be built for the benefit of the environment both now and into the future. The company is building this at an additional price premium to a standard build and is collating the information along the way as a case study which will ultimately be shared within industry. The educational and training component of the build relates to the Living Laboratory aspect of the project which aims to 'educate' the occupier (building and construction workers being trained within) into the environment elements that have been incorporated into the building. Many of these will be behind clad walls etc and they will be exposed in certain places with signage which explains the novel nature of the solution. During the build phase there is also the intention to have a high percentage of apprenticeship participation and the novel activities involved in delivery of the building will be recorded and made available for all subsequent contractors who pursue a similar path.
