Grow Trees, Be Rewarded | CFF’s Comprehensive Services

CFF make it simpler and cheaper for farmers to integrate profitable carbon crops into their farming business. The Carbon Farming Foundation (CFF) has been created to accelerate the transition of Australia's agriculture sector to netzero emissions with the specific goal of supporting farmers to launch carbon projects across one million hectares of land by 2030. This requires an innovative, low cost and massscale approach that is vastly different to what is currently available to farmers in Australia. When done right, carbon projects enhance both the ecological health of the land and the financial returns to farmers. The key is carefully integrating carbon farming projects within existing farming systems, getting real results without lockingup productive land. We have developed a doityourself model for carbon farming, where they guide farmers along a clear pathway towards running their own carbon projects. Providing simple but effective software tools, practical resources, training and longterm support. This approach values local knowledge and cuts out unnecessary costs, leaving 95%100% of the carbon credits in the hands of the landowner. This lowcost and transparent model ensures that farmers get the carbon credits they deserve.

The Carbon Farming Foundation Ltd

The Carbon Farming Foundation Ltd (CFF) is an Australian nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting landholders in implementing carbon farming practices that contribute to environmental sustainability and carbon emissions reduction. Established with the vision that farmers are key players in achieving global net-zero emissions, the foundation provides services that enable Australian landholders to participate in carbon credit markets while maintaining ownership of 100% of their carbon credits[1][3].

Mission and Vision

CFF is founded on the belief that farmers are the heroes of climate change mitigation. It aims to empower farmers to integrate carbon farming into existing agricultural systems to achieve carbon neutrality, improve soil and crop productivity, and create healthier landscapes. The organization promotes sustainable and efficient land management practices that not only generate environmental benefits but also enhance the economic viability of farms[3].

Services and Programs

The Carbon Farming Foundation offers a variety of project services under the Australian Government’s Emissions Reduction Fund, specifically the Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU) Scheme. Their focus is on methods such as Reforestation, Plantation Forestry, and Soil Carbon Farming. Additionally, CFF provides carbon accounting services and tools for measuring biodiversity through its Accounting for Nature program[1][4].

  • Feasibility Assessments: CFF provides two levels of feasibility analysis for potential projects, including presentations with Q&A and detailed financial reports.
  • Project Set-up and Registration: The foundation assists with project design, planning, and registration to ensure compliance with government regulations and methodologies.
  • Ongoing Project Services: Support continues through offset reporting, credit issuance, audit facilitation, and other ancillary services after project initiation[1].

Operational Model

CFF operates under a flexible fee-for-service model that allows landholders to maximize their profits from carbon credits without restrictive lock-in contracts. This approach supports landholders in reaping the economic benefits of sustainable land management, reinforcing the principle that farmers should directly benefit from their environmental stewardship[1].

Industry Role and Recognition

The Carbon Farming Foundation is a signatory to the Australian Carbon Industry Code of Conduct, demonstrating its commitment to community trust, transparency, accountability, and social and environmental integrity. This affirms CFF’s operation in alignment with legal and ethical standards within the carbon industry[3].

Through its work, CFF not only encourages the adoption of environmentally beneficial land management practices but also provides grants to other organizations aimed at enhancing environmental outcomes[2].

Impact

By enabling farmers to engage in carbon farming, CFF helps to generate high-integrity carbon credits, contributing to Australia’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. Its educational initiatives, such as Carbon Farming 101 and webinars, further support knowledge dissemination and capacity building among landholders[1].

The Carbon Farming Foundation Ltd plays a pivotal role in Australia's carbon farming landscape by bridging the gap between sustainable agriculture and carbon markets, promoting a future where farmers are central agents in environmental and economic resilience.
