We have provided about 50 courses and activities on a mostly weekly basis over two semesters for retired or semiretired persons with the aim of keeping both mind and body active. We have continued to regard promotion of social inclusion and companionship as very important.

U3A Armidale was established in 1992. It is part of a worldwide movement which was founded in France in 1972. The first Australian U3A was formed in Melbourne in 1984. There are now about 300 U3As in Australia with about 100000 members.
