The Qld Branch of STEP organises and conducts seminars, conferences and the associated publication of legal, accounting, trust, charities, and other papers, including the administration of the affairs of incapacitated persons, for and to members of the branch as well as non members, and provides a monthly newsletter to its members with reports on recent developments in the law of estates, estate planning and associated fields, including notes of decided cases illustrating matters of importance in those areas of interest. These activities are designed to provide up to date information and education concerning the regulation and legal analysis of transmission of property in society with emphasis on the planning, creation, management of and accounting for, trusts and estates, executorship administration and related taxes and providing further education to professionals in the fields of trusts, estates and allied subjects; and to encourage and promote the study of trust and estate practice and to educate members of the public including practitioners as to such matters. In addition the branch is called upon by government to provide input of a technical and specialist kind as to law reform in such fields to advance the knowledge of legislators as to the options available and the considerations affecting such reforms.
