SANTACPE facilitates transformative educational processes for individuals involved in pastoral and spiritual care across various contexts, including hospitals, prisons, schools, defense forces, emergency services, aged care, nursing homes, and faith communities.
Mission and Educational Approach
SANTACPE aims to equip spiritual and pastoral carers with the skills to be present with individuals experiencing distress and to offer spiritually grounded interventions. The organization's approach to CPE is based on an Action-Reflection-Action learning cycle, which fosters self-awareness and best practices in spiritual care delivery. Though rooted in the Christian tradition, the program is inclusive of diverse faiths and spiritualities, with supervisors from Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, and Christian backgrounds having been involved in the organization.
Program and Recognition
CPE offered through SANTACPE is internationally recognized as a standard for the professional formation of spiritual carers. Participants in the program engage in experiential education that enhances their pastoral care capacities in clinical and community settings. The organization also collaborates with academic institutions such as St Barnabas College and St Andrew’s Hospital, which run CPE units to train students in 2025.
