The Carina Men s Shed works to support atrisk and disadvantaged members of the local community and support activities and programs designed to relieve distress and remove barriers to social, health and community participation from vulnerable people. This includes direct support and assistance to isolated older Australians, including those who have limited or no social support and have multiple barrier preventing their engagement in community life; providing skills development and social network building programs for older Australians who are isolated and at risk; delivery of healthy ageing programs and activities designed to support ageing in place, reducing reliance of high needs care and medical/public health burdens; and assisting older Australians with a disability to engage more fully in community life. The Shed also supports programs and activities that provide tangible benefit to atrisk youth and families including providing materials, items and assistance to families in poverty and positive mentoring and support for atrisk children and youth to improve their longterm mental health and economic participation. We also work as an advocacy group for the needs of older Australians, disadvantaged community members, disabled persons and Veterans, their carers and families in the development of community programs and services to support their needs. A summary of key programs delivered by the Shed include: Mens Health and Wellbeing activities delivery of a range of gym and/or pool fitness programs for older Australians designed it encourage healthy and active lifestyles amongst members. Older Shed members participate in this program which improves longterm health and wellbeing outcomes. Social and Community programs includes the delivery of a range of special interest programs, for example a singing group, musical band, cards group, wine appreciation group, camping/glamping group to coordinate and undertake activities of interest for members and their families. These programs are open to members and their families of all ages and support greater community participation and social connections for participants. Art/drawing classes and Woodworking, metalworking, glassmaking and leatherwork programs to provide skills development and give members the opportunity to develop projects in these areas of interest to them. Open to all members with the outcomes to support skills development and ongoing engagement. Community health and wellbeing speakers program including engagement of local medical specialists, organisations supporting aged care planning, Public Trustee, Hearing Testing and experts in other areas of primary health as well as allied health (e.g. psychology, physiotherapy) for all members of the wider community to participate. These programs increase connections between those in need and medical/community support services and assist in the development of better mental and physical health for all in the co
