The Financial Counselling Foundation is a charitable trust that works to advance financial counselling services. The Foundation provides funding for direct financial counselling casework or to build the capacity of the sector. The purpose of the Foundation is to increase access to financial counselling by providing much needed additional funding for the sector. In 202122 a grant was awarded to provide financial counselling to unrepresented debtors facing the Bankruptcy Court in NSW, increasing access to people in severe financial hardship. A grant was also given to establish a face to face financial counselling service in the Pilbara region of WA that had no service, providing access to First Nations communities in this area. Evaluations for two series of grants were also funded, the family violence financial counselling and tenancy agency grants that provide financial counselling to private renters in hardship. Evaluation of the grants will help ensure the establishment of new high quality services.
