The Walnut Gallery serves as an open and public forum for the cultural exchange of ideas. Our mission is to promote contemporary art, develop a cultural community, promote public art, and to provide culturally rich programing that adds to the diversity of thought and expression for Northeast Alabama, and beyond. We fulfill this mission by offering a variety of programing and projects that are given to the community as a gift. These include bi-monthly art exhibitions, artist lectures, poetry readings, community workshops, independent film screenings, public arts projects, an artist in residence who provides area schools outreach educational visits. We are also active in the preservation of historical architecture through creative place-making.
