The novelist Lois Gould established the Gould Family Foundation and provided initial funding upon her death in 2002. The Foundations sole mission is to provide funding for work done in the public interest worldwide. In general the Foundation has been dedicated principally to the preservation of the natural world the alleviation of poverty and disease in the developing world and assisting local cultural civic and humane institutions.
