The John Walter Band’s mission is to foster and promote the social, intellectual, and musical welfare, education, and skill of our members and to bring music to the community. Celebrating 28 years, the John Walter Cape Community Band is honored to be recognized as the community concert band of Cape May County, NJ. Created in 1996 by retired high school band director John Walter, the group is made up of volunteers from the surrounding mid-Atlantic area. Members include current and former music educators, business professionals, retirees, and students from local elementary and high schools. Our band performs a variety of musical styles including marches, Broadway and movie show tunes, popular music, and jazz. Concerts are free and open to the public.

John Walter Cape Community Band The Community Band of south jersey Entertaining and Serving the Community The John Walter Cape Community Band brings exciting concert band music to southern New Jersey entertaining both residents and visitors while offering local musicians the chance to enhance their artistic growth. With members ranging from educators and business professionals to retirees and students the band fosters musical and social development within the community. Its elite subgroup the John Walter Brass Quintet performs in intimate settings that cant accommodate a full band delivering popular and seasonal music in the tradition of European brass ensembles but with the added benefit of percussion. Together both groups promote a love for music through diverse performances across the region.
