The Alliance empowers academic internal medicine professionals and enhances health care through professional development, research, and advocacy. AAIM is the consortium of 5 academically focused organizations representing departments of internal medicine at medical schools and teaching hospitals. The Association of Professors of Medicine (Association) was formed to benefit and aid the education, research, and patient care missions of departments of internal medicine at accredited medical schools in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and Canada by holding meetings, pursuing policy initiatives and publishing appropriate materials Effective April 1, 2013 the Association merged with other members of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine
